Dog of the Week: Gertie
Breed: Mix
Age: 2-years-old
Bio: Gertie came to the shelter about six weeks ago when after a Good Samaritan found her tied to a pole near Seminary Ave in Yonkers. She was skin and bones and afraid of everything when she first came in, but not for long! She is quickly turning into a beautiful sleek girl with long legs, which she absolutely loves to stretch. Gertie is spayed and would do well with kids. Gertie is truly a mixed breed dog, however she is most likely part Boxer and Mastiff, and maybe even has a little St. Bernard in her. Look at that face!
Cat of the Week: Loverboy
Breed: Unknown
Age: 2-years-old
Bio: Loverboy is an extremely friendly and smart shorthaired domestic cat. He loves company and often climbs ledges at the shelter so he can nuzzle against workers and put his paws on their chest. He weighs about 12-pounds and would make a great family pet.
