Bio: My name is Edouard Boulat and I am the Local Editor for Bronxville-Eastchester Patch. Before coming to Patch, I studied English at Colgate University in beautiful Hamilton, NY, where I was on the staff of The Colgate Maroon-News, the student-run weekly newspaper on campus. During my high school and college years I held a number of different writing positions, including co-editor of Iona Preparatory's school newspaper The Gael Force, freelancer for a number of Patch sites throughout Westchester County, and sports writer for The Gannett Journal News.

On a more personal note, I split my early childhood between Paris, France, where I was born, and London, England, where I lived for seven years. I have called Westchester County my home for the last 13 years of my life, although I have also had the pleasure of spending considerable time in Chicago where my parents moved to when I left for college. My parents now live in Zurich, Switzerland with my younger sister. I also have two older brothers.

Beliefs

At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible and human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal certain key beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.

This disclosure is not a license for our editors to inject these beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that our beliefs are on the record will force us to be ever mindful to write, report, and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you, the user, ever think you see evidence that we failed in this mission, we wholeheartedly invite you to let us know.

Politics

How would you describe your political beliefs?

I consider myself independent. I do not follow individual party lines but try to approach and think about each political issue on its own.

Religion

How religious would you say you are? Casual, observant, devout, non-religious?

I am non-religious --- or at least I believe that the best religion for me is my friends, family, and loved ones.

Local Hot Button Issues

What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?

Life in Westchester County is never dull, and the most important issues facing the community are regularly changing and evolving. Whatever community members are talking about today is what's most important.

Where do you stand on each of these issues?

I am less interested in taking a stand on issues than making sure they are covered in a professional and thorough manner and that everyone in the community has a voice and the opportunity to have their ideas, concerns, and beliefs heard.
