People in Bronxville and the surrounding area are gearing up for a massive sidewalk sale that's set to take over the village's downtown. The Bronxville Sidewalk sale will happen on Friday and Saturday.
On Saturday, there will be a street fair on Park Place in addition to the sidewalk sale. From noon until 5 p.m. Saturday there will be live entertainment, food, vendors and activities for the kids.
There will also be a free parking in the Garden and Kraft Avenue lots, in addition to the metered parking spots on Parkway Road on Friday and Saturday.
Patch asked Bronxville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Susan Miele what makes this year's Sidewalk Sale so special? Here is what she had to say about this year's big spring event.
Patch: What is new with the sale this year?
Miele: For one, we have some new businesses in town that will be participating, which is always exciting. One new business is Decora, Ltd, an interior-design firm that just opened shop last week on Kraft Avenue.
The community will also have a chance to meet the owners of the soon-to-be-open Blow & Beyond, a blow-dry bar on Cedar St. We'll also have booths on Park Place on Saturday with newcomers Latin Fitness MB, Green Terrariums, and Living Lotus Yoga, to name a few.
Another new thing this year is that the Village of Bronxville has generously expanded the free parking they offer for the event. As in the past, the free-parking areas will include the Garden Avenue lot and the Kraft Avenue lot, but this year there will also be free parking in the metered spots along Parkway Road both days.
Also new this year the Chamber of Commerce will have a station on Park Place on Saturday with shoppers' directories, giveaways, and great raffle prizes that were generously donated by Breezeway, Fabio's Hair Studio, and Fierson's, along with free face painting and sidewalk chalk for kids.
Patch: What is the uniqueness that it brings to the Village, having such an event?
Miele: The Spring Sidewalk Sale is especially exciting because, coupled with the Street Fair, it offers so much. For shoppers, there are amazing bargains, which get everyone's adrenalin flowing. Who doesn't love a bargain? The prices can drop as much as 80%, which is downright exhilarating!
The Park Place Street Fair on Saturday adds to the festivities with entertainment, food, children's activities, and vendors who don't have storefronts in town. Plus, many of the participating businesses add extra bells and whistles, like complementary refreshments, prizes, and more. People come from well beyond Bronxville to enjoy this event. Because Bronxville is so walkable, it's easy to take it all in.
Patch: What are people surprised about when the go to the sale for the first time?
Miele: I think people might be surprised by the extent of the great offers and the extra attractions that merchants often provide. For instance, at last fall's sidewalk sale, Spruce Home and Garden hired a professional glass-blower to demonstrate his craft in the store window. That alone was an attraction worth coming to Bronxville for!
