Unusual Suspects: Bloody TV; Metal Stolen, Sold; Mom Arrested at Daughter's Birthday Party

Recent weird and unusual crime in the Hudson Valley. Reports do not indicate convictions.

Bloody TV A person walking the path of the Greenrock property, the organization that maintains the Rockefeller Estate, on Sleepy Hollow Road spotted something unusual -- a TV with blood on it. The TV was placed on Rockefeller land under a corner of a bridge by the footpath, said Sleepy Hollow police; the placement raised suspicion. The item is being investigated and the blood is at a lab.  Woman Arrested at Daughter's Birthday Party Harrison police arrested a woman who was celebrating her daughter's birthday after responding to a domestic dispute call. Elderly Crossing Guard Assaulted By Unknown Thugs in Larchmont

A 66-year-old crossing guard got into a dispute with two unknown males yesterday at Murray Avenue School in Larchmont.

  In an unlikely scenario at a local school, a 66-year-old male crossing guard at Murray Avenue School was assaulted by two unknown white males in a black Nissan Rogue crossover vehicle after a verbal dispute. The guard was stationed at the corner of Murray and Colonial Avenues at 2:50 p.m., at the time school was letting out, when the men approached in their vehicle from Colonial Avenue.  A verbal dispute over an unknown matter ensued, said Lt. Robert Koziak, a spokesperson for the Town of Mamaroneck Police Department.  Information on the exact nature of the dispute was not released. One of the males exited the vehicle and verbally assaulted the guard, threatening to harm him, said Koziak.  Another male struck the guard in the chest, …

Updated: Mary Kennedy Died of Asphyxiation by Hanging, Examiner Says

Kennedy died of an apparent suicide.

Updated, Noon, Thursday The Westchester County Medical Examiner's office released a statement Thursday afternoon saying Mary Kennedy's cause of death was asphyxiation due to hanging. Updated, 9 a.m. Thursday The New York Times is reporting that Kennedy's body was found hanging in a barn behind their home and that authorities who responded to the scene had attempted to cut her down and revive her. Kennedy apparently left a note. Authorities have not released a cause of death and an autopsy is scheduled for this morning. First story: Mary Kennedy, the 52-year-old estranged wife of Robert F. Major Movie Production Being Done in Bronxville Today

A movie production starring Paul Rudd and Tina Fey will be disrupting parking spaces along Pondfield Rd. and Kraft Ave.

  The Following Message comes from Harold Porr III, Village Administrator: A major movie production company will be filming in our commercial district all day Wednesday, May 16.  Parking will be impacted along Pondfield Road and Kraft Avenue.  We ask citizens and merchants for patience and cooperation throughout the day. Please use Village parking near the train station lots and Garden Avenue if possible.  Police officers will be on the scene to assist with vehicle and pedestrian traffic. All businesses will be open throughout the day.  The filming will be a one day event.

Justice, Punishment Sought in Chamberlain Shooting

Speakers at White Plains rally decry the lack of indictments in the death of Kenneth Chamberlain Sr.

NAACP representatives and others renewed demands Saturday for accountability and punishment in the case of a White Plains man fatally shot by police responding to his medical-alert alarm. The man, Kenneth Chamberlain Sr., was 68 and wielding a knife, police said, when he was shot last November in his apartment in the Winbrook housing complex. The killing has sparked a furious community backlash, a subsequent grand jury investigation and, still under way, a federal civil-rights probe. The City of White Plains has also launched an independent review. But under a bright-blue sky and midday sunshine, a succession of angry speakers were not mollified by the investigations. 6 Charged In DWI Crackdown In Westchester

Six people were charged with drunken driving in a special DWI crackdown on Friday and Saturday in Westchester County, according to State Police. State troopers conducted six-hour roving DWI sobriety enforcement details in the area of Route 6 in the Town of Cortlandt and on the Sprain Brook Parkway, running from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. The effort led to: 6 DWI arrests 12 speeding tickets 38 other Vehicle and Traffic law tickets Charged with DWI are: - Nicholas Seibert, 23, of Highland Falls, NY; he was arrested for DWI. Trio Allegedly Steals from Drop Box Three Long Island men were arrested after being observed and videotaped taking items from a Bedford drop-box. Two of the men allegedly lowered the third man into the box to retreive items. Police located the men in Mt. Kisco and discovered 800 pounds of clothing valued at $450 and three large clothing collection bins in their truck. Bronx Man Indicted for 2009 Home Invasion in Greenburgh

  A Bronx man is scheduled to appear in Westchester County Court later this month after an indictment was unsealed Wednesday charging him with robbery and burglary in connection to a home invasion robbery in Greenburgh. Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that a four count indictment was unsealed today against Victor Hernandez, 26, of the Bronx charging him with a count first-degree robbery; a count of second-degree robbery;a count of first-degree burglary; and a count of second-degree burglary. On December 20, 2009, Hernandez allegedly forced his way into a house in Greenburgh with unidentified suspects. Jonathan Green was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to stabbing his former girlfriend in the back last year.

  A Mount Vernon man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to stabbing his ex-girlfriend with a kitchen knife last year, the Westchester District Attorney’s Office announced today. Jonathan Green, 39, of Mount Vernon,will serve a determinate sentence of 15 years after he pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree attempted murder, which is a Class B felony, in March. Green stabbed the woman in front of Greater Centennial Church, located at 311 South 8th Ave., on Aug. 3 2011. The attack happened as the woman was leaving gospel choir practice. Authorities said Green stabbed the 53-year-old woman multiple times with a kitchen knife, before it broke off and remained lodged in her back. Green fled the scene, but he was …
