Elementary Bike Run 2012

Bedford Central School District hosts fun fitness event.

They gathered in "waves" at the starting line. Twenty-five eager racers sitting on their bicycles waiting for the signal to start, and then they were off-- following a course through the parking lot of Fox Lane Middle and High Schools. After four laps, they got off their bikes and headed for the track to walk as much as a mile before completing their race, their times tracked by microchips in each athlete's bib. The process repeated until all of the 320 participants in the Elementary Bike Run 2012 had finished. The racers, grades K-5, were from the district's five elementary schools and raced by age group. Southern Westchester Center for Career Services hosts hot rod event.

Dozens of classic cars and hot rods were on display for enthusiasts as the Southern Westchester Center for Career Services hosted a car show and open house on their Valhalla campus Sunday afternoon. Students in all areas of study got to give demonstrations of the work they are learning to have a career in, while in the parking lots, classic cars and hot rods from all eras were on display as classic rock boomed over the PA system.

Every year MLB switches things up for interleague play, but do you like it?

Before 1997, Major League Baseball (MLB) would segregate the American and National league as much as possible. Teams from both leagues would not play each other in a game that counted until the World Series, each league had their own governing body and umpires, and there were even differences in the rules like a change in the strike zone.  During interleague play when a game takes place in a National League ballpark, the American League team is expected to have their pitcher hit, and when the American League team is home, the National League team must use a designated hitter. Scouts turn out for 100th anniversary celebration.

Girl Scouts and Brownies from the Scarsdale-Edgemont Girl Scouts decended on the Girl Scout Field in Scarsdale to celebrate the organization's 100th anniversary. Games, contests, crafts and food combined with good spirits as girls and boys enjoyed the day and honored the organization on a century of building character in girls.

Boulders Take Quebec To 12 Innings, But Lose Third Straight Game

Capitales for 8-7 win.

Keith Brachold’s first homer as a Boulder looked to be a big one, as his 12th-inning blast gave Rockland a 7-4 lead, but an error opened the door for a four-run rally and a Quebec Capitales 8-7 win Saturday night. The Boulders (0-3), will now look to salvage the finale of the set as the teams will play again this afternoon before the Boulders head back to Provident Bank Park in Pomona for their home opener on Tuesday, May 22. Snooki Mania!

Reality TV star visits White Plains to sign books.

MTV's "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi made a visit to White Plains to autograph copies of her book, Gorilla Beach, at the Barnes & Noble Booksellers City Center on Saturday afternoon. Hundreds of fans stood in line outside the store on Main Street as the pregnant celebrity signed books, posed for photos and made personal video clips with them inside.
