Honor the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at This Shabbat Service

A Shabbat service, an art opening and audition's for a children's production of "Alice in Wonderland" are among the events in the area this weekend.

1. Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Shabbat Service: Westchester Reform Temple is hosting its annual Shabbat service Friday honoring the legacy and teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr. The guest speaker will be Reverend Dr. Stephen W. Pogue of the Greater Centennial AME Zion Church, Mt. Vernon. Reverend Pogue will be joined by the voices of choir members from Greater Centennial AME Zion Church, leading us in spirituals, gospel and freedom songs. 2. Remember When… Exhibit by Regina Latkany: Postcard story artist Regina Latkany will be at the premiere exhibition Saturday of her collection of oil paintings on board (wood) at the Rye Arts Center. Latkany cleverly injects storytelling into her paintings, with the final chapter left to the viewer’s imagination. For more information, visit the center’s website www.ryeartscenter.org. 3. Auditions - Alice In Wonderland (Young People's Theatre): The Westchester Sandbox Theatre is holding auditions Sunday for its YPT Kids production of “Alice in Wonderland,” directed by Artistic Director Jason Summers. Auditions are open to performers in grades K through 5. Performers should prepare a song for auditions and bring sheet music, a karaoke track, or be prepared to sing a capella. A registration fee of $395 is due at the first rehearsal. Performances are March 14-23.
