Auditions for Holiday Musical in Bronxville; Wine Tastings in Eastchester, Tuckahoe

There are tons of ways to keep busy around Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe this weekend, and we're here to help you decide which happenings are for you. Here are the details for six great events. Scroll down to the end of this article for information on a few more.

Bronxville: Open Auditions and Interviews for Annual Holiday Community Musical

When/Where: Friday, Sept. 27 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Stein Hall Room 101 at Concordia College

Cost: Free

Why go: The Concordia Conservatory of Music & Art will hold open auditions for performers and interviews for backstage production staff for its stage production of “A Christmas Carol.” Community performers (ages 8-18) are invited to audition Friday and Saturday. The musical will be performed Dec. 6-8 and marks the Conservatory’s 14th annual holiday feature.

Tuckahoe: Wine Lecture and Tasting

When/Where: Friday, Sept. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Westchester Italian Cultural Center, One Generoso Pope Place, Tuckahoe

Cost: Must register in advance and prepay. Members $50, Member’s Guests $60

Eastchester: Wine Tasting for the Friends of the Eastchester Public Library

When/Where: Friday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Eastchester Public Library Auditorium 11 Oakridge Place Eastchester, NY

Why Go: Sample the wines provided by Wine Stop, paired with a variety of cheeses provided by Dobbs & Bishop Fine Cheese. Advance tickets are available at: www.eastchesterlibrary.org (Click on Friends link at top of the page.)All Proceeds Benefit the Children's Room Renovation Fund.

Tuckahoe: Growlers 2nd Annual Oktoberfest

When/Where: Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. at Growlers Beer Bistro - 25 Main Street, Tuckahoe.

Cost: Free

Why Go: Authentic German beer and food will be served outside both days including Weihenstephaner, Hofbrau, Radenburger and Yonkers Brewing’s Oktoberfest. Beer games, beer truck, corn hole, rock climbing, “bungee” bull riding and kids’ activities including pumpkin decorating, jumping castle, airbrush tattoos and a DJ from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There will be live music featuring John James & Friends, which begins at 9 p.m. Saturday night.

Tuckahoe: Culinary for Children

When/Where: Saturday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Westchester Italian Cultural Center, One Generoso Pope Place, Tuckahoe.

Cost: Children’s Fee: Members $30, Non-Members $40. Parent & Child Fee: Members $40, Non-Members $50

Why Go: A hands-on, fun workshop that will teach children how to prepare this delicious pasta. Participants will make tricolor fettuccine from scratch and take home what they made. A plate of homemade fettucine dressed with different sauces will be served at the end of the class. Appropriate for all ages.

Bronxville Women's Club Annual Fundraiser

When/Where: Sunday, Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. at Bronxville Women's Club, 135 Midland Avenue, Bronxville

Why Go: The Bronxville Women's Club has chosen Bronxville resident Mildred Adams McLearn as its 2013 Woman of the Year. She is being honored at the annual fundraiser for the Clubhouse. More details here.
