Kick Off 2014 by Losing Some Weight

- Wild Encounters Storytime (3-5 years old): A new, weekly nature discovery series for children and parents or caregivers at the Greenburgh Nature Center. Dress for outdoor activity. Except in extreme weather conditions, a portion of each class is spent outdoor. PRE-REGISTRATION & PRE-PAYMENT REQUIRED. Tuition per 6-week session: Members: $50 per child. - 'Create Your Weight' Program at Lawrence Hospital Center: Create Your Weight is a 10-week, multifaceted adult weight management program that is scientifically based. The class is taught by Registered Dietitian Katie Campbell who focuses on the three most important aspects for long term, successful weight loss: education, physical activity and behavior change. The class will meet every Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Lawrence Hospital Center. To get acquainted with the program, there is a free introductory session on Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the Lobby Conference Room at Lawrence Hospital Center. - ‘Ace of Good,’ Supporting Children and Military Families: A presentation Wednesday by Susan Barron Trenk, founder and CEO of Ace of Good, a philanthropic organization that provides school supplies to poor children around the world, which is now also supporting United States military families living below the poverty line. - Graduate School Open House: The College of New Rochelle is hosting a Graduate School open house on Thursday. Founded in 1969, the school has helped over 10,000 men and women improve their professional skills, make career changes and re-enter the workforce. - After last week’s snow storm and blast of frigid weather, milder temperatures return to start the week, with highs in the 40s on Monday. Another cold front sneaks in on Tuesday, with highs in the single digits, but temps warm up a bit on Wednesday and Thursday.
