Halloween Candy Buy-Back For Overseas Troops

Main Street Pediatric Dentistry in Tuckahoe is just one of many businesses beginning this new trend of re-gifting candy meant for trick-or-treaters and instead "buying back the candy" from them to send to military personnel abroad.

With talk about childhood obesity dominating health news, many dentists are now offering to "buy back" kids' Halloween candy—protecting them from the calories that balloon waist lines and sugar that bores holes in young enamel.

Main Street Pediatric Dentistry in Tuckahoe are just one of many dentist offices across the country getting in on the act and this week from Nov. 1 - Nov. 8, kids can take any of their Halloween candy that they either were too sick to finish or otherwise, and donate it to the dentist office, who will then buy the candy from the kids and ship it overseas to the troops in Afghanistan.

At a rate of $1 per pound of candy donated, kids and parents can rake in a few extra bucks, all the while helping a worth while cause in the process.
