Got Meds? Dispose of Unwanted or Unused Meds this Saturday

A nationwide initiative will take place this Saturday where you can have the opportunity in Eastchester to collect all unused medications in your home and dispose of them safely and properly.

 

Medicine cabinets across America will hopefully be cleaned out this weekend at our area participates in a national initiative that asks residents to get rid of all old prescription medication and bring them to a designated site for proper disposal.

The U.S Drug Enforcement Administration in conjunction with the Town of Eastchester, Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corp and Lawrence Hospital Center will be collecting unused and unwanted prescription drugs for disposal as a way to help reduce prescription drug abuse and protect the environment.

This initiative will take place in Eastchester on Saturday Apr. 28 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Eastchester Volunteer Ambulance Corp located at 257 Main St. in Eastchester. You can simply drop off your expired or un-used prescription or over-the-counter medications, no questions asked.

The program is also being organized locally by Eastchester Communities that Care, a comprehensive public health prevention system being used to meet the daunting challenges facing adolescents including alcohol and other drug use.

When bringing unused medications – whether prescription or over the counter – keep them in their original bottle or container. Hypodermic needles will not be accepted; instead, place them in puncture-proof containers and throw in the trash.
