Tuckahoe, Bronxville & Eastchester Heat Advisory & Air Quality Alert

There is an Air Quality Alert in effect today, as well as a Heat Advisory. Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Eastchester are set to see a heat index around 101° this afternoon. The actual high will be 97°.

Forecasters say that we will feel the most heat during the afternoon and early evening. The National Weather Service says high levels of heat and humidity are to blame for the heat advisory. The National Weather Service has actually issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook Advisory all the way through Tuesday.

In addition to the Heat Advisory, we are also under an Air Quality Alert. The alert was issued because there is a high level of pollution in the air right now. The New York State Department of Health is asking people to limit strenuous outdoor activities today. People who are at the most risk are the very young, and those with pre-existing respiratory problems.

On Friday, forecasters say that heat indices could reach 110°. That could happen for a couple of hours on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, we could see a chance of a severe thunderstorm.
