Bronxville Troop 5 Inducts Four New Eagle Scouts

Four Bronxville Troop 5 Scouts of the Boy Scouts of America’s Westchester-Putnam Council were officially honored in a Grand Court of Honor and awarded the Eagle Scout Rank in a ceremony marked with tradition and ritual on the premises of the Reformed Church of Bronxville Sunday evening. Troop 5’s newest Eagle Scouts are: Steven Ircha, Jr., Christopher Carley, Will Tarry, and Asgede Teckie The Eagle Scout Rank is the highest and most prestigious rank awarded to a Senior Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, earned by only four percent of Scouts. The Eagle Scout Award is an honor that is held for life and it is said, “Once an Eagle, always an Eagle.” To attain Eagle Scout, each Scout had to progress through the ranks in the following order: Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and Eagle. In addition, each Scout had to earn a minimum of 21 merit badges (all earned more) including: First Aid, Citizenship in the Community, Nation, and World, Communications, Environmental Science, Personal Fitness, Camping, Family Life, Personal Management, Emergency Preparedness or Lifesaving, Cycling, Hiking, or Swimming. Each Scout, all of whom are High Honors Students, had to serve at least twelve months in a series of troop leadership positions. Each Scout had to successfully complete a Service Project by planning, developing, and giving leadership to a religious organization or any school or community. Each Scout had to take part in a Scoutmaster conference. The final step in the journey was completing an Eagle Scout Board of Review.
