Update: Bronxville Grad Swimming English Channel

A few weeks ago, Irena Choi Stern wrote about Marilee Kiernan, a Bronxville High School grad, who, on June 21, broke the record for swimming the Strait of Gibraltar. 

Now, Marilee is on to her next challenge: swimming the English Channel.

"Marilee was very excited but a little nervous as we made our way out of Dover Harbor. The sea looked good and remains relatively calm for now, but keep fingers crossed,as the weather can change any second," wrote her sister Erin in an email update today.

"She took off from Sapphire beach at 10:39 a.m. and is officially en route to France! Marilee had her first feeding (she will feed every 30 minutes) and is feeling great! She chirped up 'This is so fun!' as we passed her the water bottle," she continued.
