ETB Ices Clarkstown 5-4

Putting up 5 goals in the second period, ETB cruises to a 5-4 victory on Friday evening and improves to 10-3 on the year.

The boys of Eastchester Tuckahoe Bronxville (ETB) will enjoy their 3-day weekend even more now that they notched their 10th victory of the season, beating Clarkstown 5-4 after trailing 2-0 after the 1st period.

"I didn't have to say much during the intermission," Head Coach Dave O'Neil said after the game, "the players really just picked it up on their own and knew what they had to do to come away with a win."

Picked it up was putting it mildly as ETB came out in the second period like a house of fire, scoring 3 goals in the first 5 minutes, including the go ahead goal by sophmore Chris Hagen making it 3-2 ETB.

"I got a nice look and put the puck in the net," said Hagen who also had a nice assist on the game tying goal just minutes before his own score when senior Captain Ian Palfrey tied it up at two goals a piece.

After scoring five unanswered goals, Clarkstown answered with a score finally with 7 seconds left in the 2nd period, making the score 5-3 going into the 3rd period.

Both teams played the game very aggressively and even chippy at times, and in the end, both teams saw plenty of minutes in the penalty box.  Despite multiple power plays however, ETB goaltender Lucas Berger held his own, racking up 29 saves and shutting down breakaway opportunities time and time again for Clarkstown.

"We got together as a team and I think that's why we are having such a good season," said Hagen who continued that, "we now have some tough opponents ahead starting with New Rochelle."

ETB will be back at the Ice Hutch in Pelham for a long home stand beginning with their match-up against New Rochelle High School on Tuesday Jan. 17 at 8:30 p.m.

Other upcoming home games at the Ice Hutch include:
