Daily Sports Digest: Several Local Teams Back In Action

The local area had a busy day in athletics as teams from Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe all hit the field, court or pool. Bronxville teams won soccer shutouts while Eastchester’s girls lost and Tuckahoe’s won. The Broncos also found themselves victorious is field hockey and swimming, but Eastchester lost in the pool.

Yesterday’s Results:

Sport: Boy’s Soccer

Game: Edgemont @ Bronxville

Score:  Bronxville Won 3-0

Highlights: Jack Conners led the Bronco defense as he had 5 saves and shutout the visiting Panthers. Bronxville’s goals came from Carter Bond, Jack Aherne and Nick Capasso.

Sport: Girl’s Soccer

Game: Bronxville @ Saunders

Score:  Bronxville Won 5-0

Highlights: Bronxville got the road win on the strength of 2 Liz Cory goals and scores from Taylor Reynolds, Lucy Kohlhoff and Claire MacMillian-Bell. The Broncos picked up four scores in the first half and won the game with ease.

Sport: Field Hockey

Game: Bronxville @ Pelham

Score:  Bronxville Won 2-1

Highlights: Bronxville’s Gretchen Richter had a goal and an assist while Melissa Imperiale added a goal in the Bronco victory. Pelham’s Caroline Fink had 13 saves in the loss.

Sport: Girl’s Soccer

Game: Scarsdale @ Eastchester

Score:  Eastchester Lost 5-2

Highlights: The Eagles took the 2-0 lead into half time but Scarsdale escaped Eastchester with a 5-2 victory thanks to 2 goals each from Emily Smith and Kate Hennessy.

Sport: Girl’s Soccer

Game: Mount Vernon @ Tuckahoe

Score:  Tuckahoe Won 8-1

Highlights: Tuckahoe had a commanding lead all day at home against Riverside. Alezzandra Cirillo led the way for the Tigers with a gargantuan effort scoring six goals. Abby Stupple had 10 Saves in the win.

Sport: Boy’s Soccer

Game: Tuckahoe @ Solomon Schecter

Score:  Tuckahoe Lost 5-3

Highlights: Tuckahoe found goals from Robert Marvoic, Brian Sans and Mike Conboy but it wasn’t enough to pull out a victory on the road. In the win Sam Jabiansky had 3 goals and an assist.

Sport: Girl’s Swimming

Game: Bronxville @ Scarsdale

Score:  Bronxville Won 94-76

Highlights: Emma Hutchins and the Broncos cruised to victory Tuesday night. Hutchins found first place finished in both the 200 and 400 Freestyle. In the losing effort Scarsdale’s Nicole Katchis finished first in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Butterfly for the Raiders.

Sport: Girl’s Swimming

Game: Eastchester @ Ursuline

Score:  Eastchester Lost 91-71

Highlights: Ursuline won at home on the strength of several first place finishes by the Koalas. Ursuline found gold in the first eight events of the meet.

Today’s Schedule:

• In field hockey, Bronxville will head to Hastings at 4:15 p.m..
• In girl’s soccer, Bronxville will host Saunders at 4:30 p.m. Bronxville won the game at Saunders 5-0.
• In boy’s soccer, Eastchester will head to Saunders for a 4:30 p.m. matchup. Eastchester won the early September game 6-0.
