Before heading over the London for the Olympic Games, the US Olympic sailing team had a sendoff party over the weekend at the Larchmont Yacht Club.
The “Good Luck USA Send-off presented by Maclaren” was hosted by US Sailing’s Olympic Sailing Committee and the Junior Sailing Association of Long Island Sound along with the Larchmont Yacht Club.
More than 1,000 people came out to show their support and meet the 16 Olympic athletes. The team includes three members from New York: Amanda Clark from Shelter Island, Debbie Capozzi from Bayport and Erik Storck from Huntington. Those who attended received a pack of signing cards featuring each athlete, which they could then go get signed as well as get their picture taken with the sailors.
The six Paralympic athletes were scheduled to attend, but couldn’t make it due to a conflict with their training camp.
Do You Know A Local Olympian?

This week’s sports poll ? The choices include players who made the team as reserves, but shouldn’t be voted in to start, and players left off both teams entirely.
