Concordia Dominates in Tennis Win

The 37th-ranked Concordia Clippers would dominate their women's tennis match on Saturday at the Meyers Tennis Center against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference(CACC) opponent USciences. Concordia would take a 9-0 win as the team won all their singles matches in straight sets.

In the No. 1 doubles match freshmen Stefanie Canals-Baker(Pollensa, Islas Baleares, Spain) and Costanza Mecchi (Rome, Italy) would win 8-1 over Victoria Quang and Melissa White as did the duo of freshman Valeriia Cheban (Odessa, Ukraine) and junior Alla Kravchuk (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) in their No. 2 match against Andria Dang and Alexis Vidal.

Junior Linda Eliasson (Gothenburg, Sweden) and sophomoreNicole Stuhr (Glendora, Calif.) would battle their way to a shutout 8-0 victory over Maria Carlli and Allison Korn in the No. 3 match. The Clippers would hold a 3-0 advantage into singles play.

Eliasson and Kravchuk would both shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0 in singles play. Canals-Baker would capture a 6-0, 6-1 win while Cheban, Mecchi, and Stuhr all claimed 6-1, 6-0 victories in their respective matches.

Up next for Concordia (2-0, 2-0 CACC) is a pivotal conference matchup against Chestnut Hill on Tuesday afternoon. The teams will take to the court of the Meyers Tennis Center at 3:30 p.m.
