Bronxville Baseball Victory

The "walk-off" victory follows the 2012 season, which saw the Broncos finish as League Champions for the first time since 2006.

Thanks to Angela Seminara for the following:

The Bronxville Bronco Varsity Baseball Team began their season with an exciting come-from-behind 6-5 victory over Scarsdale last week.  This “walk-off” victory follows the 2012 season, which saw the Broncos finish as League Champions for the first time since 2006.  The Broncos won 11 of their last 13 games, including three must-win games at the end of the season to advance to the Section 1 Tournament and earning themselves a home field playoff game.  This was the seventh consecutive year that the team had qualified for post-season play.  With only four seniors graduating, the core of last year’s roster is in place—and the 2013 team has begun exactly where last year’s League Champion team left off—WINNING.

But while the boys were busy preparing for their season opener, parents were busy coming together to form a committee that has one goal in mind: improve Bronxville Broncos Baseball! With budget cuts and unfortunate weather related events, it looked as if the team wouldn’t even be able to host their first game with neighboring Scarsdale at their own home field. The Scout Field has been a victim of several unfortunate weather related events in recent years. Poor drainage and proximity to the Bronx River created a recipe for disaster. Parents of the varsity players decided to “step up to the plate” themselves  and created a sub-committee that has been working closely with the school’s Athletic Department and team coaches, as well as local and county officials to help facilitate much needed improvements to the field that is used by the Bronxville School. The efforts of varsity parents have been joined by the many parents of players on the junior varsity and modified baseball teams.  All told, there are 100+ parents involved in these efforts.
