A Small Business Giving Back Big

Recently, I posted on my Facebook wall, offering help to anyone who needed it.  I was overwhelmed with the amount of requests I received from my Facebook friends.  Some of the requests were from people just looking for me to keep them in my prayers, and other varied from promoting businesses to finding jobs.  As I am currently working on some of those requests, this particular one touched my heart.

"A great man who is paying it forward," as described by Patricia Lyon.  Unfortunately, Patricia fell and injured her leg, and broke her hand.  Daily tasks have been a challenge the past few weeks.  Luckily for Patricia, her good friend and hair dresser Marcello Perri, has been able to make life a little easier.
Marcello is the owner of Marcello's Hair Secrets on Central Avenue in Scarsdale.

Marcello has been washing and styling Patricia's hair every day before she goes to work at the College of Westchester - and he isn't charging her a penny.
"I will always help my customers when they are in need," says Marcello, who opened the salon in 1982.  A resident of Hawthorne, Marcello came to the United States from Calabria, Italy, when he was just 14 years.

During times when there was no water in the area, such as after Hurricane Sandy, Marcello Perri, without hesitation, offered the salon out to his customers too.

When I spoke to Marcello, I knew that he did not expect nor want to be recognized for his thoughtfulness, but I am sure you can agree that hearing stories like this remind you that there are good people in this world, and for that, we thank you, Marcello.
