Sarah Lawrence Sweeps HVMAC Weekly Awards

Sarah Lawrence's Nathan Thompson won five of his six matches last week and improved his singles winning streak to six matches.

Sarah Lawrence College men's tennis player Nathan Thompson (Portland, Ore., Lake Oswego) has been named Player of the Week, and Cameron Basham (Los Angeles, Calif., John Marshall) has been named Rookie of the Week by the Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference, as announced by the league on Tuesday.

Thompson won five of his six matches last week and improved his singles winning streak to six matches. The senior took home three victories at No. 6 singles, defeating his opponents from Brooklyn College, Cooper Union and Culinary Institute while helping the Gryphons to a 2-1 mark on the week.

Basham went 4-2 on the week, playing in singles and doubles in all three of the team's matches. The sophomore dominated in doubles play, surrendering only one game in wins at No. 3 doubles against Brooklyn College and Culinary. He also picked up victories at No. 5 singles over Cooper Union and Culinary.

Sarah Lawrence hosts HVMAC opponent Vaughn College on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Gryphons are scheduled to host Bard College on Saturday, but forecasted precipitation may force postponement or relocation.
