Adam Savage, co-host of the hit Discovery Channel show “Mythbusters,” will deliver the Commencement address to the class of 2012 on Friday, May 18, at 10 a.m.
Recipient of honorary degrees, memberships and awards from academic, research and science education organizations for giving visibility to the scientific method, Savage and his co-hosts have tested hundreds of myths and performed thousands of experiments on the popular television show.
“Given the centrality of experimentation and critical thought to SLC’s educational philosophy, I think the pairing of enthusiastic SLC students with Adam Savage’s wisdom and wit will make for a memorable day,” said President of the College Karen R. Lawrence.
A New York City native, Savage was raised not far from the College in Westchester County. Prior to finding his niche in television he has been a sculptor, worked in industrial design, theatre and special effects and fabrication.
