Eastchester Approves $1.9 Million Bond for Field, School Renovations

Residents of Eastchester Thursday voted overwhelmingly to approve a bond measure to spend $1.9 million to replace the turf field at the high school and middle school and make other facility improvements.

The final vote tally was better than two-to-one with 743 casting ballots in favor of issuing the bond to 322 voting against. Work on the projects is expected to begin next year and finish up in the fall.

The district estimates that bond measure will cost each homeowner an additional $30 per year for 15 years.

In addition to replacing the old turf field, which is currently closed due to exposed seams and other signs of wear, the bond will also pay for some masonry work at the high school and middle school.
