The Tuckahoe Board of Education will bring in state officials and other education leaders this month to discuss Common Core, unfunded state mandates, busing, the district's five-year Strategic Plan and other topics.

Editor's Note: The following announcement is from the Tuckahoe Union Free School District concerning two upcoming special meetings the Board of Education will host in January.

The Tuckahoe Board of Education announces two special meetings during the month of January:

On Thursday, January 16, 2014, the Board will host a workshop meeting with Senator George Latimer and Assemblywoman Amy Paulin. Topics to be discussed include the Common Core Curriculum, unfunded mandates, busing concerns, and the Tuckahoe Housing Authority Pilot, among others. Community members are invited to attend and participate in this important dialogue with our legislators at 7:00 p.m. in the Tuckahoe Middle School/High School Library.

On Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Tuckahoe Middle School/High School Library, the Board will host a workshop meeting where Dr. Charles Wilson will present a draft of the complete proposed five-year Strategic Plan. This five-year Strategic Plan was developed in response to a needs assessment involving over 300 community and staff members. Following the presentation on January 21, the Plan will be available on the district website, www.tuckahoeschools.org , for community review and feedback prior to Board of Education adoption.
