Yonkers Ave. in Tuckahoe to Reopen by Jan. 7

It looks like there's light at the end of the tunnel for the Yonkers Avenue project in Tuckahoe.

Tuckahoe Mayor Steve Ecklond says that Yonkers Avenue will finally be open in the village by January 7. Here's what he had to say about the project being wrapped up.

After enduring delays by the contractor to complete their work, I am pleased to inform our residents that over the past two weeks the Village has commenced our final phase of reconstruction of the road bed and preparing it for re-opening.

Yesterday we installed the first of three concrete road sections.  The second section will be installed tomorrow or Saturday, weather permitting.  The last section will be installed no later than mid-next week.

With the curing time and finishing tasks that need to be performed, we are scheduling the road to be open for traffic no later than Monday, January 07, 2013

There will be residual construction activity along the river bank however this activity will not interfere with traffic flow on Yonkers Avenue.

I want to thank our residents and businesses for sharing their patience with us during this project and wish everyone a Happy & Healthy Holiday.

Regards,

Steve Ecklond, Mayor
