The Eastchester Fire Department is hoping more than average 4 percent of voters cast ballots Tuesday for a new fire commissioner. Polls will be open from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

From the Eastchester Fire Department:

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME AND VOTE AT THIS YEARS FIRE COMMISSIONERS ELECTION

The Fire District election is routinely overlooked by Eastchester residents, as less than 4 percent of eligible voters turnout to vote.  The approved 2014 budget for The Eastchester Fire District is $16.7M and directly impacts your tax assessment. This election should be taken just as seriously as any Town Election or School Board Election for these board members manage and administer a budget that is larger than the individual town budgets of Bronxville or Tuckahoe.
