Stamp Prices to Rise 1¢ This Month

U.S. Postal Service rates are set to change on Jan. 27.

The cost to mail a letter will rise slightly later this month when postal-rate changes go into effect, according to the U.S. Postal Service.

Stamp prices will increase 1 cent, from 45 cents to 46 cents, to mail 1-ounce letters, effective Jan. 27. The cost for letters weighing more than 1 ounce will stay the same, at 20 cents for each additional ounce, according to an announcement from the postal service.

Postcard stamps will also see a one-cent increase, from 32 cents to 33 cents. Letters under 1 ounce mailed anywhere internationally will cost $1.10, the announcement  states.

Those looking to save a few cents could stock up on the postal service's Forever stamps (costing 45 cents until the one-cent increase on Jan. 27), which are usable even after stamp prices change.

Pick up your Forever stamps at the New Rochelle Post Office at Huguenot Street and North Avenue soon.

After hearing complaints about the rising price of stamps, I once heard someone say, "How much would it cost you to deliver that letter across the country?" An interesting point.

so everyone who mails a letter across town is subsidizing the letter that goes across country.....p.s. I noticed far fewer Christmas catalogues in the mail this year as opposed to just a few years ago when I used to fill a couple of recycle bins with them.
