MAP: How Much of Bronxville's Trash Gets Recycled?

How much trash do Westchester County towns toss and how much is getting recycled?

In the run up to Earth Day on April 22, Patch is looking at the numbers behind Westchester’s environmental impact, including how much garbage we produce and how much of that waste is wasted.

The interactive map above shows information on municipal solid waste and compost for each town in the county in 2012, color-coded by how much solid waste was ultimately recycled.

Nine towns recycled more than 70 percent of garbage taken in, with many more achieving better than 50 percent.

There were also two towns to recycle 20 percent or less — Lewisboro (20 percent) and Pound Ridge (5 percent).

Overall, the county recycled 52 percent of its solid waste, beating out the state and national averages, 36 percent and 35 percent, respectively.

Use the map above to compare towns and see rankings for who generated the most and least trash per person here.
