Lawrence Hospital's Expansion in Bronxville

The medical facility will be adding a new cancer center, which will include six state-of-the-art operating rooms.

Plans are moving forward for the expansion of Lawrence Hospital. A new 40,000 square foot cancer center building was given the go-ahead by Bronxville's planning board. The board okayed the plan by a vote of four to one.

The new surgical and oncology building will be built next to the hospital's central corridor. After completion, the hospital will finally be able to offer radiation services to patients.

“This is a significant moment in Lawrence Hospital’s history,” said Lawrence Hospital CEO Edward Dinan. "We are grateful to the village for recognizing how important this project is to the future of Lawrence Hospital and our patients, and for working with us to ensure that the design meets the best interests of everyone involved.”

The new addition will house radiation oncology, infusion therapy and medical oncology units. The total cost of constructing the new cancer center will be about $34 million. The new pavilion will also be home to six state-of-the-art operating rooms, which will be about 600 square feet each.

Now that the planning board has approved the expansion, the hospital still has to find a contractor and secure permits. They hope to begin that process this spring.
