Peter Incledon of Bronxville defeated incumbent Richard Steigelman of Eastchester Tuesday for Steigelman’s seat on the Eastchester Board of Fire Commissioners, according to the town’s unofficial vote tally.
Incledon received 487 votes - compared to Steigelman’s 282 - and will now serve a new five-year term. A total of 769 residents voted in Tuesday’s election.
According to town officials, the Eastchester Fire District is “a separate and autonomous unit of government that serves Eastchester, Bronxville, as well as Tuckahoe. It is governed by a Board of five Fire Commissioners who are responsible for general administration; the appointment of department personnel, physician, attorney, and secretary; and the preparation and adoption of the annual Fire District budget after a public hearing.”
For 2014, the approved fire district budget is $16.7 million, which appears in the town-at-large spending plan. The amount cannot be altered by the Eastchester Town Board.
