Fresh off receiving the New York Republican nomination to run for governor against Andrew Cuomo, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino has kicked off his campaign by telling voters that taxes are too high under the incumbent Democrat.

During a speech before GOP members over the weekend in Oyster Bay, Astorino said the issue of high taxes can be something he can build upon throughout the state, but particularly in the southern reaches.

"Nobody knows high taxes like Nassau and Westchester," said Astorino, as reported by Newsday. "Unfortunately, we're one and two in the nation in taxes -- and we can do so much better."

Astorino hit on similar themes in his acceptance speech for the party's nomination earlier this month, a speech called a "withering attack" against Cuomo by the New York Daily News.
