The 29-year-old Carmel woman who displayed a handgun and attempted to rob the Rite Aid in Putnam Plaza of pain killers in September 2012 is facing five years in state prison followed by five years post-release supervision.

Yekaterina Dankova has been convicted of first-degree attempted robbery, a class C violent felony, Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy announced Monday.

Assistant District Attorney Lisa Ortolano prosecuted the case. Yekaterina pleaded guilty and was sentenced in October.

The crime occurred at about 9 p.m. Sept. 6, 2012. Dankova left without any pharmaceutical drugs.

"The pharmacy staff crouched down behind the counter to avoid being shot and the female suspect fled the store," Carmel Police said in a press release describing the crime.

Police were not able to immediately locate the handgun, a 45-caliber semi-automatic pistol, but they later found it stashed under rocks by a Dunkin Donuts drive-thru window nearby.
