With only a handful of communities being nominated each year in New York State, Tuckahoe Police Chief John Costanzo is proud that his department has been recognized numerous times by AAA of New York as an exemplary department when it comes to traffic safety.
This year, the department was awarded AAA's highest honor, the Platinum Award, which is given to communities that demonstrate outstanding success in addressing local traffic safety issues according to aaanys.com.
"Police departments from Albany to Long Island are rated by AAA and I'm really proud of the officers that do such a great job implementing traffic safety laws in Tuckahoe," said Constanzo.
The purpose of the traffic safety awards are to encourage communities to address local traffic safety issues in a coordinated and cost-effective way.
