A Texas man is facing multiple charges after he fled from Westchester County Police this morning, leading to an accident that involved a police vehicle.

Dave Wright, 43, of Dallas was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and second-degree reckless endangerment, reckless driving and fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, misdemeanors.

The incident began about 11:10 a.m. Tuesday when a county police officer attempted to stop Wright’s vehicle for speeding on the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway in New Rochelle.

Instead of pulling over, Wright drove faster and then exited the parkway at North Avenue. As the officer pursued Wright’s vehicle, his police car was struck by another car, causing minor injuries to the officer.

A description of Wright’s vehicle was broadcast over police radio. Eastchester Police stopped the vehicle at Alida and Brook Streets in Eastchester and turned Wright over to county police.

Wright is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in New Rochelle City Court.
