Suspicious Package Removed from Cross County Shopping Center

Investigators are still trying to figure out what the package is, according to a mall spokesperson.

Authorities have removed a suspicious package from the south parking lot of the Cross County Mall, according to the shopping center's spokesperson. The package was found this morning on the grounds of the mall. Mall workers called police when they noticed the package in the parking lot this morning. Yonkers Police Department's Emergency Services Unit responded to the call.

This afternoon, authorities removed the suspicious package from the mall's south parking lot. Investigators are still trying to figure out what the package is, according to a mall spokesperson.

The Yonkers Police Department's Emergency Services Unit operation did not affect shopping at the mall. And all of the businesses there have remained open as the investigation continues off the mall's premises.

"We remained open and operating all day. We just quarantined off an area of the parking lot and just monitored the traffic," said Senior Manager of Marketing for the Cross County Mall Liz Pollack.
