Police: Shoplifting Incident Leads To Chase, 2 Arrests

New City man, Stony Point woman charged in connection with theft at Walgreens in Stony Point.

What started as an investigation of a shoplifting incident at a Walgreens store led to a police chase that ended with the arrest of a New City man and a Stony Point woman, according to Stony Point police.

Jeffrey T. Feuerstack, 55, of 1 Squadron Boulevard, New City, is accused of petty larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and obstructing governmental administration. Jessica Rodriguez, 25, of 406 Call Hollow Road, Stony Point, is accused of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Police said Feuerstack is charged with taking several pre-paid cellular telephones form Walgreens in Stony Point on Friday and leaving the store without paying. As Feuerstack left in a car, he was followed by a Stony Point detective, who attempted to stop the car.

Police said the driver of the car, Rodriguez, refused to stop, and the car was followed to 409 Call Hollow Road in Stony Point. When the car did stop, Rodriguez and Feuerstack ran from the car, police said.

Rodriguez was caught by police, but police said Feuerstack fled into nearby woods and got away. However, police said Feuerstack was arrested a short time later when he was spotted in a cab trying to flee the area.

Police said Feuerstack had the stolen cell phones in his possession when he was arrested. Stony Point police also discovered that was wanted by the Rockland County Sheriff's Department on an active warrant.

Feuerstack was taken to Stony Point police headquarters and later turned over to the Sheriff's Department. Rodriguez was also taken to police headquarters and later released pending a May 17 hearing in Stony Point Town Court.

Stony Point police said they were assisted by the Haverstraw police department and its K-9 unit, the Sheriff's Department, Ramapo police and troopers from the Palisades Interstate Park Police.
