Police: Journal News Employee Harassed

The employee believes he is being targeted because of an article published in The Journal News that had an interactive map showing the names and addresses of handgun permit holders in Westchester and Rockland Counties.

An Irvington resident, who works for The Journal News, called police twice on Dec. 26 to report that he received several unwanted phone calls.

He believes he is being targeted because of an article published in The Journal News that had an interactive map showing the names and addresses of handgun permit holders in Westchester and Rockland Counties.

The story sparked outrage, controversy and discussion over free speech, privacy, freedom of information and gun control. Name and addresses of employees of The Journal News were posted on Facebook and pro-gun websites.
