Eastchester Fire Commissioners Seek New Members

Ever thought about being an Eastchester Fire Commissioner? Now's your chance.

From the Eastchester Fire Department:

Are you a resident of The Town of Eastchester and interested in running for Commissioner for the Fire District of the Town of Eastchester, New York?

If so, click this link to gain access to a petition that would need to be signed by 25 registered Town of Eastchester voters to place your name on the December 10th 2013 election ballot.

The Board of Fire Commissioners consists of five members, each one publicly elected by the qualified voters of the district to a five-year term. The position is volunteer, per Town Law 174, so none of the commissioners receives any pay for their work. Elections for commissioner are held annually, on the second Tuesday of December, for one of the five seats, thus ensuring that there are always experienced commissioners in office per Town Law 175.

Candidates for office must submit their name in writing to the District Secretary, signifying their request to be placed on the ballot at least 20 days prior to the election date per Town Law 176.
