Authorities: 80-Year-Old Tarrytown Woman Killed on Route 119

An 80-year-old female pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday night on Route 119 in Tarrytown, the County Medical Examiner has confirmed Wednesday morning. 

The examiner's office will conducting an autopsy this morning on Bernadette Brennan, 80, of John Street, Tarrytown, whose body was brought in last night.

Tarrytown Police said they are preparing a press release on the accident that happened in the early evening across from Washington Engine in the eastbound lanes of Route 119.

It was dark by then and raining. 

LoHud.com has reported the woman was crossing the roadway at the intersection of Meadow Street, an area with crosswalks in each direction, when she was struck. They also reported that it was not a hit and run; the driver reportedly stopped and was interviewed by detectives.

Drivers passing on the roadway last night reported there were about five police vehicles from both the County and Tarrytown forces with the area blocked off for investigation until at least until 8 p.m., hours after the accident.
