5 Day Thruway Driving Crackdown Starts Now

It's part of Operation Spring Brake.

New York State police are boosting patrols along the Thruway today through June 13.

They're targeting speeding motorists and aggressive driving in and around construction zones.

Road crews face constant dangers everyday in work zones. Motorists who speed, drive distracted, or are simply careless when traveling in a work zone pose a great safety risk to highway workers and other drivers, police said.

During the same five-day campaign in April 2014, Troop T issued more than 2,000 tickets, more than half of which were for speed related violations in and around active work zones.

Still waiting for a "Keep Right Except to Pass" campaign. The state only spent a ton of money installing a sign at practically every overpass on the Thruway. Yet the drivers still do not adhere to the law. It would certainly make our highways safer.
