Pretty Women, Razors, and Free Juice

If, in the coming months, you happen to see Julia Roberts sipping a cappuccino at , noshing on sashimi at , or perhaps getting her legs photoshopped at , don’t be entirely surprised.  Turns out her niece, the actress Emma Roberts, is in the incoming freshman class at Sarah Lawrence.

We didn’t see either one of the Roberts ladies at last night’s summer concert, although plenty of lovelies were on hand, including former Chamber Director Ruth Wood and her successor Peggy Conway, who organized the event.  Plan B did a nice encore performance after also playing the July concert, and the weather was sublime – cool and crisp, with deep blue skies turning pink and deep purple as the band played Smoke on the Water and other classic rock staples.

Scarborough Fair cooked up burgers, sausage, and pulled pork, while provided the desserts.  Mayor Marvin stopped by the bakery’s tent and took home some of their gourmet popcorn.  Our kids had cupcakes and ungraciously ate and/or accidently dropped them on the pavement before we could partake.

We thought the Razor Scooter craze faded back in the early Oughts, but apparently the things are back with a vengeance, if the kids at the show last night are any indication.  There were enough of them flying around on two wheels to rival the motorbikes rocketing up and down the Sprain Brook Parkway on any given Sunday.

Speaking of crazes, this interwebs thing was supposed to make libraries obsolete, right?  Yet there all you techies were, at on Monday, plugging in and taking advantage of the only broadband in town, while powering your iPads with freeflowing juice.  Long live the library.

And long live labor - happy long weekend, everyone.
