Monday Musings
It wasn’t as warm this weekend as we had hoped, but this week is looking good, with temps expected to reach the 50s soon. Time to pull out the sunscreen and open the pools? Not quite, but it should be a welcome respite.
- Speaking of welcome respites, if you’ve ever been to Home Depot over in Yonkers on a Saturday, you know what a maddening experience that can be. We hit Lowe’s, across the river in Orangeburg this weekend, and what a pleasant surprise that was. Plenty of parking, not too crowded, and the employee to customer ratio was about 4 to 1. It was well worth the Tappan Zee tolls.
- Speaking of alternatives, although Fairway is a New York City staple, they can’t do bagels. We were sorely disappointed with the quality from their Pelham outpost, and will stick with right here in Bronxville from now on.
- Took the kids to Chinatown over the weekend, hoping to catch the end of the New Year’s festivities, but there wasn’t much going on. Fantastic soup dumplings at Joe’s Ginger on Pell Street, though. That’s one of the great things about living in lower Westchester–a quick train ride can transport you to another world.
Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!
