Chapel School Preschoolers Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

Bronxville, NY- Preschool students at The Chapel School, Bronxville, NY celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by wearing green, baking soda bread, and dancing a jig.  Students in Mrs. Maureen Butler’s class were treated to traditional folksongs played by their teacher on an Irish fiddle. The students were excited to show off the new dance moves they learned. “I am doing a jig!” exclaimed one student. After the music and dancing were finished the students headed to the school kitchen to learn how to make Irish Soda Bread. “My favorite part about baking is getting to eat it,” giggled one little girl with cute green shamrock glasses on.

The study of International Celebrations is part of The Chapel School’s Multicultural Studies Program. This program enables the wonderfully diverse Chapel School family, which includes parents, guardians, students, teachers, administrators, to explore and celebrate traditions and accomplishments of people from a wide range of backgrounds. According to James Dhyne, Principal of The Chapel School,  “Music, art, literature, science, athletics, cuisine, dance and so much more are masterfully weaved into all areas of the curriculum.” Field trips, special visitors and interdisciplinary curriculum connections help to make each unique experience meaningful and memorable.
