About Town: Turkey Day Options

Home Cooked, Catered, on a Bun, or in a G-string?

The post-Mass crowds came out in force yesterday for the annual Mothers' Club of Boutique & Bake Sale. Stuck inside for nine straight hours, we missed what apparently was a lovely, unseasonable day, but managed to take a quick stroll About Town afterwards and enjoyed the steel blueish skies and puffy little clouds that would have made Bob Ross proud.

On Saturday, the wrapped up its regular season, but stop by this Wednesday morning for a special edition and pick up something fresh for your Thanksgiving table.  We hear that the Market will be back again this winter, at the same spot at 1 Pondfield Road, starting in January.

If you’re one of those that dines out on turkey day, check out – they’ll have a $40 prix fixe menu available, and if you’re not in the mood for bird, halibut, lamb, salmon, and risotto will be options.  Check out the full menu on Facebook here.

Somewhere between buying raw ingredients at the Market and dining out lies the wonderful prepared food options at , which never disappoints. Alternatively, you can do what we did in 1998 and order a turkey burger from or .

It won’t be in time for Thanksgiving, but we hear that Scarborough Faire will be opening its new location soon, very soon, so keep an eye on the space at 82 Kraft Avenue.

And finally, as long as we’re talking turkeys, check out this Tweet from a Sarah Lawrence student who couldn’t find a widely panned flick at the school’s library….

“How the f$%@ does the Sarah Lawrence library have neither Dumbo nor Showgirls? What kind of liberal arts school is this?”

- @mitchsunderland

And on that note, we’ll wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving.
