About Town: Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!

Three Local Pizzerias Honored, Photography Exhibit at Sarah Lawrence, and the Winter Farmers' Market Opens.

The returns on Saturday after a December hiatus.  The Winter Market will be held at 1 Pondfield Road, right by the train station (across from ).   Hours are 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.  If you’ve been going through local produce withdrawal like we have, don’t miss it.

If a week or so goes by without a slice, we definitely get a craving.  So when this month’s issue of Westchester Magazine arrived, touting the county’s best pizza, we immediately flipped to the article.  Local standout up in Tuckahoe was named best “Plain Cheese” – alas, we’ve never tried it, but will.  And we drive by Carlo’s Restaurant (Best Pepperoni) all the time, but never even thought to go in – it looks a bit like a dive bar on the Eastern Shore of Maryland or something.  in Eastchester is mentioned for having “all the bases covered” with their wide variety of toppings – that makes number three on the must-try list.

We admit to being a bit disappointed that our local favorites, and , weren’t mentioned, but the lines at the former are long enough already!

Over at , a new exhibition at the Barbara Walters Gallery in the Heimbold Visual Arts Center celebrates twenty seven years of photography in Nueva Luz, the journal of En Foco, an organization that supports fine art and documentary photographers of diverse cultures.   You can read more about the organization, and the exhibit on the Times’ Lens Blog, or just head on over to campus to see it for yourself.  The exhibit runs through Mar. 7.

Mar. 7 might also be about the time the construction on Palmer wraps up.  Locals were originally informed that the work would finish this week, but by the looks of things, that’s about as likely as Ron Paul getting the G.O.P. nomination.

Have an excellent weekend, folks.  See you at the Farmers’ Market!
