About Town: Goings On in Bronxville

Mysteries, Music, and Mexican in the Village this week.

So it looks like the latest entry in a string of Asian eateries that have tried to make a go of the old Calvin’s space on Palmer Avenue has shuttered.

We honestly can’t even remember the name of the latest one – they never changed the Onn’s Chinese signage from the previous owner, but in any case, the point is moot, as the doors have been closed for several days now.  Let's pray for anything but an Asian-fusion to give it a go next.

Meanwhile, , which has continued to thrive as the village’s only Mexican, is offering customers a “Guest Appreciation” discount of 10% on dine-in orders through Sept. 15 – visit their website (and click through the rotating home page features) to find the discount.

Also thriving is local author Gail Farrelly, who was recently featured on the Women of Mystery blog, and whose latest short story, “Keys to the Kingdom” was published online by Kings River Life Magazine.

Another mystery is what exactly happened at the corner of Paxton and Palmer the other night – Bronxville PD swooped in and detained a man who was, according to witnesses, assaulting his female companion.  Look for more when the latest police reports are published here on Patch.

On a lighter note, the Bronxville Chamber hosts the third of three summer concerts tonight on Park Place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  We’ll see you there!
