About Town: Cold Season In Bronxville

Residents get Sick, Palmer Road Construction Continues, Bronxville Women's Club Art Exhibit Opens.

We’re fighting the nasty cold that seems to be making the rounds of Bronxville with a combination of Theraflu (currently on sale at ) and “Breathe Deep” Yogi Tea from .  If reports from other residents are to be believed, this is a particularly nasty strain, which will get worse before it gets better.

At least we’re not working outside in today’s rough weather.  The construction crews continue to overpass to lay a new section of sewer pipe.  Traffic headed away from the Village on that stretch is being diverted to Pondfield Road West.

Just a few doors down from the construction carnage, at is once again accepting donations, so if you’re like us, and trying to de-clutter after the massive influx of holiday toys, now is a good time to find a new home for some of your older stuff, while getting a head start on tax deductions for 2012.  The drop-off location in Eastchester is another good bet.

We bumped into local musician Don Drumm at yesterday – he’s got a new version of his Bronxville-themed video, named for the coffee shop,  up on YouTube.  You can watch it here.

Also on the arts front – is currently hosting an exhibition of work from their Art Classes – the show runs through the end of the month, and there will be a reception on Monday, January 16th, from 2pm until 5pm.

Finally, in the believe-it-or-not department, did you know that Metro North rececently purchased three military surplus Rolls-Royce jet engines, previously used in drone aircraft, to melt snow on the rails?  Talk about a career change - one minute you're knocking off terrorists, the next you're clearing snow for suburban commuters.  Now, if we only had snow...

Have an excellent weekend folks - we'll see you About Town.
