About Town: Football, Turkeys and Proms

Dobbs Ferry Wins, Chocolate Turkeys Attack, and Pageant Winners Invade Bronxville

Have you been up around Bronxville Lake recently?  Wow, the storm damage around the pathways is stunning.  On the southeastern end, a massive tree came down, but has since been cut to allow passage.  Kudos to The Garrett Park Neighborhood Association, which on Sunday coordinated a “River Rescue” to help clean up the area.

The question is, which fell to earth harder, that tree, or the Bronxville High football team, which lost for the first time in ages on Saturday night.  Dobbs Ferry snapped the Broncos' twenty game winning streak, beating them 38-14 for the Class C championship.

On the academic side of things, was noted as a key factor in local real estate prices (duh!) in this profile in the Wall Street Journal Online on Saturday.

Walking through town this weekend, we came across a twelve pound chocolate turkey at on Pondfield.  The handmade behemoth is $110, but is sure to be a good conversation starter for those awkward family Thanksgiving  get togethers.  Strategically positioned on your holiday table, it might even hide your crazy Uncle Mitch from view entirely.

Did you notice a bevy of beauties on Pondfield Friday afternoon?  fundraiser at drew a variety of titled Westchester County and Hudson Valley  “Misses” including Sarah Hreyo, Megan Hernandez, Bianca Gallub, and Jacqueline Groccia, none of who should ever be hidden behind a chocolate turkey.
