Toni Fin: 81

A longtime Bronxville resident, she taught in Yorktown.

Antoinette “Toni” Finn, 81, died at the Glen at Willow Valley Retirement Community, on July 13, after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.  She is survived by her loving husband, Michael, after 56 years of marriage.  She was the daughter of the late Amelia and Charles DiLeo of Allentown, PA.

Toni was born in Allentown on November 20, 1931. A graduate of Allentown High School, she attended Penn State University for two years, then transferred to the inaugural class of a brand new five-year nursing program at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1954 with both RN and BS degrees.  She joined Pan American World Airways in 1954 as a flight attendant during the glamour days of airline travel and was able to visit many of the great cities of Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Toni married Michael Finn of February 2, 1957, in the midst of a blizzard in Allentown.  Toni and Michael resided in Westchester County, New York raising three children in Bronxville, NY where Toni was active in a number of community and school activities.  Once her children were grown, Toni went to work as a school nurse/teacher at Yorktown Heights, NY high school and retired to Williamsburg, VA before moving to Willow Valley community three years ago.  She was an avid tennis player and golfer, enjoyed bridge and book club with her many friends and continued traveling worldwide with Michael.  Toni was also a gourmet cook and loved to entertain family and friends.

In addition to Michael, Toni leaves behind her devoted family: daughter Tracey and her husband, Kent Vermillion, Vienna, VA; daughter Alison and her husband, Dr. Myles Davis, Columbia, SC; and son, Christopher and his wife, Peggy, Ridgewood, NJ.  She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Connor, Brendan, Griffin, Colin, Donen and Molly.

The Finn family would like to acknowledge the fantastic and dedicated staff at the Glen, both first and second floors, where Toni resided for nearly two years as her condition progressed.  The staff provided outstanding and loving care for Toni as well as support for the family.  In addition, the team members from Hospice and Community Care are recognized for their generous and constant care during the final months of Toni’s life.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA.  Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
