Theophilus Augustus Marshall, 96, son of Amelia and Septimus Marshall, died at the home of his daughter and son-in law in Eastchester, NY on September 20, 2013.
Born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, he and his family migrated to England and then later to the United States. From 1952 to 1982 they resided in Hartford. In Hartford he became a master craftsman with Hartford Builders Finishers for several decades, making exquisite furniture.
A devout Christian, founder of the Light House Gospel Tabernacle, and family man, he expected, at that time, that Hartford would remain his home. However, he and Flostina later relocated to the warmer climate of Florida for health reasons. There, he once again practiced his faith, but additionally he became active in community service which earned him several awards.
Due to advancing age, Theophilus and Flostina decided in 2008 to return north to live with their daughter and son-in-law in New York. Theophilus leaves to mourn his death: his devoted wife Flostina, of 73 years, his daughters Jeanette McFarland, Beverley Dawes, Metabelle Cameron; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews down to the fourth generation.
The funeral service was held on September 27, 2013 in Bronxville, NY. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Popana Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, contibutions can be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
