Friends and family are among those remembering Eastchester's American hero, Daniel Fruchter. Fruchter was a World War II veteran who survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor back in 1941.
Fruchter was born in New York City, to his parents Philip and Dora. He attended NYU and Syracuse University. He then went on to a career in hospital administration. He spent 45 years working in the sector. Fruchter was the CEO of Union Hospital in the Bronx for 24 years.
After he retired, Fruchter was a dedicated volunteer at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York City.
Fruchter passed away on March 7. He is survived by his wife Marilyn of 54 years, sons Philip and Gary, daughter-in-law Mareanne and grandsons Jake and Alex.
